Position Summary:
As a Commercial/Industrial Electrician, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in various commercial and industrial settings. Your expertise in electrical systems and components will ensure the safe and efficient operation of electrical equipment, compliance with relevant codes and regulations, and the satisfaction of our clients.
Work Functions & Responsibilities:
Report for work on-time, without excessive absenteeism, ready to work, and conform to the required company policies and procedures to perform work being assigned.
Installation and Wiring:
- Install, maintain, and upgrade electrical systems in commercial and industrial buildings.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications to plan installations.
- Properly install and connect electrical components such as wiring, outlets, switches, panels, and circuit breakers.
- Ensure all installations adhere to local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems to identify and rectify potential issues.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems, such as faulty wiring, circuit overload, or malfunctioning equipment.
- Repair or replace faulty components, wiring, or fixtures to restore proper functionality.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of electrical systems.
Safety and Compliance:
- Prioritize safety protocols and adhere to safety guidelines while working on electrical systems.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ensure all installations and repairs meet safety and quality standards, including grounding and bonding requirements.
Collaboration:
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other team members to ensure successful project execution.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their electrical needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate with other trades (plumbers, HVAC technicians, etc.) to integrate electrical systems into larger building projects.
Documentation:
- Keep accurate records of all work performed, including installation details, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Create and submit reports on completed projects, including any deviations from initial plans and necessary updates.
Professional Development:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical technology, codes, and regulations through ongoing training and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program or technical school preferred.
- Valid E-1, E2 License preferred.
- Proven experience as a commercial electrician, showcasing knowledge of electrical systems and components.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Physical ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Time management skills to effectively complete projects within deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA -10 required; OSHA 30 preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Semi-frequent stair climbing.
